HRH The Duke of Edinburgh 1921-2021

Posted on 15 April 202128 June 2021 by joannegenealogy

As we hear about the very sad news of the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip. He was the husband and consort to The Queen. He was born in Corfu, Greece and his Royal Crest depicts this in the upper left quadrant on the shield. The black and white stripes represent the house of Mountbatten (from his mother’s side of the family), the three lions with hearts are shown as a representation of Denmark lineage and the the castle is a representation of Edinburgh Castle. The white cross on a blue background is the flag of Greece.

He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered as we take a look back through his life and achievements over time.
