The Welsh Bible project:
Earlier this year, a Welsh bible came into my possession – and it’s huge! It weighs over 5kg, bound in leather with a metal edging around the outer covers and 2 metal clasps. I’d admit that the cover had seen better days, but what interested me, and why I purchased it (eBay £20), was the family history pages within the bible that had been completed with 4 generations of the PEARCE family. As I have PEARCE in my family line, and from Anglesey, I knew I had to have it!
Findings Inside:
What I didn’t realise as I was flicking through the pages of the bible, which incidentally were in great condition, was that there were bookmarks (around 3), some dried leaves and flowers pressed between different pages and 5 photographs – along with a metal hair clip which is very rusty and has embedded itself into the pages between Chronicles and Ezra. What finds!!
